Responding to newly-approved teaching guidelines about Black American history on Friday, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris criticized the Florida board of education for replacing “history with lies.” Among the new guidelines for teachers are certain controversial “benchmark clarifications,” including one for middle school students that claims “instruction includes how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”
