After an eight-day inquest, a coroner’s jury in Burnaby ruled well-known homeless advocate Barry Shantz died by homicide in January 2020. Shantz was shot by police after a six-hour standoff in Lytton. Grace Ke reports the jury made two recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
