Canada Day celebrations, for some, was a chance to become Canadian in a unique way. On Saturday, dozens of permanent residents walked the pitch of the Rogers Centre in Toronto for a once-in-a-lifetime citizenship ceremony — televised to millions. And, mayor-elect Olivia Chow sent her followers a heartfelt Canada Day message on Twitter. Additionally, a fire in Brampton killed one woman and left a man hospitalized, with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating the matter.
