Canada will deploy two ships in July to patrol northern European waters and hunt for sea mines as part of a Latvia-based NATO mission, Defence Minister Anita Anand announced on Thursday during her visit to London, England. The two ships, expected to depart from Halifax on Monday, will join a NATO Mine countermeasures group that was originally established in 1973 to clear World War II mines from the English Channel.
