Olivia Chow has been elected as the next mayor of Toronto. In a race that saw a staggering 102 candidates, the former NDP MP won the race Monday night by nearly five points in a surprise turnaround, earning 37.2 per cent of the city’s vote (approx. 260,000 people) — winning the title by the lowest total vote of any mayor since amalgamation.
