Indigenous community in Manitoba react to $5 treaty payment agreement that hasn’t increased since 1871

Indigenous people in Manitoba reacted on Monday to the annual annuity treaty payment agreement, worth $5, which hasn’t increased with inflation since 1871. Phoenix Longclaws, who waited in line to collect her payment, said she’s attending “out of principal” but added “the agreement should have been subject to inflation.” Global Winnipeg’s Iris Dyck has more.
