During a surprise visit to Kyiv on Saturday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke before Ukraine’s Parliament, telling politicians Canada will “continue to support Ukraine becoming a NATO member as soon as conditions allow.” Trudeau’s visit comes in the midst of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, and just days after the collapse of the Kakhovka dam in the country’s Kherson region.
