Appearing before a Procedure and House Affairs Committee (PROC) on Tuesday, former governor general David Johnston continued to defend his impartiality as the Special Rapporteur looking into election interference. “My relationship with Prime Minister Trudeau goes back to when our children were teenagers and during the course of almost 40 years – we had no meetings, we no dinners at one another’s homes, no particular contact – was a friend of the father etc. but those were the extent of the contacts,” Johnston said.
