Better Business Bureau warns fake job scams have spiked in recent years

Fake job scams are on the rise, especially since the pandemic. Many incidents begin with scammers posing as recruiters and making unsolicited pitches for job openings online or over the phone. That can lead to a fake interview or job offer and then attempts to squeeze financial and personal information from victims. BBB estimates thousands of these scams across the country each year can lead to millions of dollars in losses.
