At the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the eastern city of Bakhmut was not under Russian control, contradicting Russia’s earlier claims. Russian military leaders claimed on Saturday that it captured the ruined city of Bakhmut, and Russian paramilitary Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin accused Zelenskyy of either “lying” or being “simply (unaware) of what is happening on the ground” on Sunday.
