Responding to Meta’s announcement that they would block news for Canadian users on Facebook and Instagram, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Meta’s actions show “how deeply irresponsible and out of touch they are,” adding that “all of us” need to ensure “we’re protecting our democracies.” He said the policy was “dangerous” to Canada’s democracy and economy.
