Rachel Curran, the head of public policy for Meta Canada, said during a House of Commons Heritage committee meeting Monday that a content-blocking team was working toward blocking news for its Canadian users on Facebook and Instagram should the Liberal government’s online news bill pass. She said that the news would be removed in a “careful” and “transparent” way. She added they would not remove pages unrelated to news, such as for governments or emergency services.
