Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny was seen on camera on Wednesday for the first time in months, days after his associates voiced growing concerns over the state of his health while in confinement. He made brief opening remarks speaking about the time he has spent in solitary confinement before mentioning an “investigation” at which point the court appeared to mute his video link. According to reports, Navalny said investigators had opened what he called an “absurd” terrorism case against him that could see him sentenced to an additional 30 years in jail.
