The major Muslim holiday of Eid was supposed to provide a reprieve for conflict-ridden Sudan. A ceasefire had been agreed upon between two warring generals vying for control of the military, but as Mike Drolet reports, Khartoum was instead clouded in dark smoke, with prayers interrupted by the sound of machine gun fire. Some new recommendations are being studied by the Canadian federal government that are supposed to improve air travel for passengers, especially when flights are delayed or cancelled. This comes just as Canadians enter the busy summer vacation travel period. Plus, COVID-19 may increase a person’s risk of developing diabetes, a recent Canadian study found, though experts are still not sure exactly why this is.
