Canadian Tire’s use of facial recognition technology subject of privacy commissioner’s report

The Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC has released the findings of an investigation into Canadian Tire’s use of facial recognition technology. The stores were collecting images to help loss prevention, but the investigation found they did not notify or obtain consent. Richard Zussman has more.
