Biden appears to mix up All Blacks rugby team with ‘Black and Tan’ soldiers during Ireland visit

U.S. President Joe Biden appeared to mix up the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team on Thursday during remarks he made in Dundalk, Ireland, when talking about a shamrock tie he received from a rugby player who “beat the hell out of the Black and Tans.” While he meant the All Blacks, he instead referred to a military unit that served on the British side of the Irish War of Independence and became known for their brutality.
