A group of 33 swimmers have been referred to federal law enforcement by Hawaii authorities after they allegedly harassed a wild pod of dolphins off of Hawaii’s Big Island. It’s against United States federal law to swim within 45 metres of spinner dolphins in Hawaii’s nearshore waters. Aerial drone footage shows snorkelers following dolphins as they swim away. The State Department of Land and Natural Resources said video and photos showed the swimmers “who appear to be aggressively pursuing, corralling and harassing the pod.”
