U.S. Congress grills TikTok CEO on user safety: ‘You can’t even protect the people in this room’

U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack grilled TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew on Thursday on the social media platform’s ability to protect the safety of its users, pointing to a threat made on TikTok against the committee’s Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers. “You expect us to believe that you are capable of maintaining the data security – privacy and security – of 150 million Americans where you can’t even protect the people in this room,” she said.
