After the RCMP named Michael Duheme as the new interim commissioner to replace Brenda Lucki on Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that police services with the right safety and structure are needed to protect Canadians, especially in light of the recent fatal shooting of 2 Edmonton police officers. “With an excellent interim commissioner that we’ve just announced today, I can assure you that we are very much looking at how to ensure that the RCMP can continue to offer the very best service to Canadians from coast to coast to coast,” Trudeau said.
