First Nations residential school settlement approved by federal government

A federal court judge has approved a $2.8-billion settlement agreement between the Canadian government and plaintiffs representing 325 First Nations. The settlement seeks to address some of the harms done by Canada’s residential school system– including the loss of language and culture.
