European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen paid tribute to Ukrainian women in her message to Canada’s Parliament on Tuesday, telling MPs that the women in that country “have smashed a glass ceiling right over the head of the Russian invaders.” She said the number of women serving in the Ukrainian military has more than doubled and that “millions of Ukrainian women are standing up for their children’s future.”
