Critical incident investigation underway following death of patient awaiting care at Health Sciences Centre

Health Sciences Centre’s Chief Operating Officer Shawn Young responded on Thursday to questions regarding an investigation into the death of a patient in the emergency department. Young could not disclose details of the investigation taking place but said the patient arrived by ambulance, was triaged and treated as critical. The Emergency wait times on Monday night were historically high with patients waiting 2 hours to be seen, Young said.
