Vancouver council approves huge property tax increase

Just hours after Vancouver’s mayor announced that council was “considering” a property tax hike of 10.7 per cent, councillors went ahead and approved the measure in its 2023-24 budget. As Emily Lazatin reports, while Mayor Ken Sim says the huge increase “sucks,” it’s needed for the city to “catch up” after years of underfunding core services.
