Ghada Eltahir Mudawiwill, UN Deputy Director, operations and advocacy division, office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said Tuesday that the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria are a “rare situation” where those responding to a disaster are also impacted by it. She said some UN colleagues had lost family members or had spent the night in cars or on the street because of the earthquake on Monday.
