U.S. attorney Markenzy Lapointe said on Tuesday that while the assassination of former Haitian president Jovenel Moïse occurred in Port-au-Prince, “much of” the planning, funding and direction of the plot to overthrow him was conducted in the United States, in the southern district of Florida beginning in early 2021. He outlined the events and the charges connecting the defendants to the murder.
