U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Tuesday that the Justice Department had filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Google, alleging the company used anti-competitive, exclusionary and unlawful conduct to “eliminate or severely diminish any threat to its dominance over digital advertising technologies.” Garland said the complaint seeks damages and divestiture of certain Google AdTech products, and an injunction preventing Google from continuing to engage in the anti-competitive practices described in the complaint.
