Sheldon Poitras, project leader with Star Blanket Cree Nation, spoke on Thursday about the discovery of approximately 2000 “anomalies” detected by ground-penetrating radar at the former Qu’Appelle Indian Residential School. Poitras said leadership does not think this means there are more than 2,000 unmarked graves at the site. Moving forward they are interested in strategically testing the soil of these points to preserve the area’s integrity, Poitras says.
