Some Quebec municipalities gearing up to fight for bilingual status after notice from OQLF

Under Quebec’s Bill 96, if a town or city has fewer than 50 per cent of citizens who identify English as their mother tongue, their bilingual designation can be revoked. Last month, a total of 47 municipalities in the province including six in the Montreal area were given notice. As Global’s Felicia Parrillo reports, some of those cities say they are rallying to protect their status.
