Transport minister blames combination of extreme weather, holiday travel peak for disruption over the holidays

In an interview with Global News, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said his ministry has been working with airlines and the transport sector for months in preparation for the holiday travel season, and to learn from the challenges faced during the summer season. However, he said the combination of two extreme weather events that affected B.C., Ontario and Quebec, along with the travel peak during the holidays, were the reasons for the chaos.
