Poilievre worried about ‘slippery slope’ for medical assistance in dying for mental health

Speaking to reporters in Ottawa on Friday, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre said that he was concerned that medical assistance in dying (MAiD) for mental health was a “slippery slope,” pointing to examples of military veterans being given such suggestions and the Mississauga Food Bank CEO receiving requests for support in ending their lives. “My belief is we should try to give people lives that they believe are worth living, rather than telling them to give up on life altogether. Life is a precious thing,” Poilievre said.
