Speaking during question period in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre ridiculed recent reports of the government awarding an RCMP contract to a company that allegedly has Chinese ties. “How on God’s green earth did this government think it was a good idea to give a company accused of espionage the control of our anti-espionage technology?” Poilievre asked. Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino responded by assuring that the government has put in place “rigorous processes” to screen for national security concerns and will be investigating this particular contract.
