In the throne speech delivered by lieutenant-governor Salma Lakhani inside the Alberta legislature Tuesday, the UCP said it plans to stand up to the federal government by introducing Bill 1, the “Alberta Sovereignty Within a United Canada Act,” to be used as a constitutional shield to protect the personal and provincial rights of Alberta residents.
