City of Vancouver ends $320K street clean-up contract with controversial non-profit

When Vancouver police stopped supporting city workers in daily clean-ups on the Downtown Eastside earlier this year, a sidewalk encampment exploded in size on East Hastings, sparking fire safety concerns. Around the same time, the city awarded a group of activists a hefty contract to help keep the streets clear of debris. As Kristen Robinson reports, that controversial contract has now been cancelled.
