Toronto’s mayor is taking heat over new legislation from the Ford Government after it was revealed he requested changes to increase his powers. Mayor John Tory says he’s been consistent in saying he was in favour of strong mayor powers – But the changes allow him to push through priority items with a fraction of the votes and some are calling it an affront to local democracy.
