Deputy Minister of Finance Michael Sabia told the Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC) on Thursday that as it weighed whether or not to invoke the Emergencies Act to end the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protests in Ottawa and across Canada last winter, the federal government was concerned the Canadian economy “was at a very, very fragile moment” in their estimation.
