NDP MP Alistair MacGregor said Tuesday that the “archaic language” of the RCMP Act needs to be fixed, and called on the government to support his proposal clarifying that directions by Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino to the police force be given in writing. He said this would ensure better overall accountability. Mendicino responded he would work with MacGregor on his private members bill and would work to ensure better transparency and accountability.
