In Peterborough, the number of new arrivals from abroad nearly doubled over the past five years – seeing 1,300 recent immigrants in 2021, up from 750 in 2016. While immigration officials are happy with the growth, they are still pushing for higher numbers to keep the region competitive in its immigrant intake.
