Canada’s Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland responded to questions on Friday regarding Ukrainian Sovereignty Bonds. The bonds were announced earlier that day by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the 27th Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians. “The money from the bonds will go directly to the Ukraine through an International Monetary Fund account, which insures accountability and transparency” Freeland said. She added that he bonds can be purchased by institutions in around the world creating an international opportunity to support Ukraine.
