Javaid Rehman, the UN special rapporteur on Iran, said Thursday that he saw Mahsa Amini as a “victim of state brutality” following her death while in the custody of the country’s so-called morality police. He also said that despite several reports issued by state officials asserting no misconduct, in his view the investigations into her death have “failed the minimum requirements for impartiality and independence.”
