University students across Iran staged protests marking the 40-day mark of Mahsa Amini’s death on Wednesday. The 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman died on Sept. 16 after falling into a coma while in the custody of Iran’s so-called morality police, where she was held for apparently not wearing her hijab properly according to the rigidly enforced Islamic Penal Code.
