Researchers explore new materials that could help cap inactive and leaking oil and gas wells

Oil and gas wells drilled in Alberta since the 1880s have left a few scars. According to the Alberta Energy Regulator, over 170,000 wells in our province are currently either inactive or abandoned. But more than 130,000 have also been reclaimed. And as Sarah Offin reports, researchers are working on promising new technology that could improve how that’s done.
