A man who was protesting outside the Chinese consulate spoke out on Wednesday after being attacked at the Chinese consulate in Manchester, U.K., over the weekend. In a media interview, Bob Chan said he was “angry” and “shocked that this had happened on foreign soil in the U.K.” Separately, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that the treatment of the protester was “unacceptable” while Chinese foreign minister Wang Wenbin said that it had lodged representations with Britain over the incident.
