On Oct. 7, a 22-year-old woman wearing a metal collar with a padlock on it and duct tape around her neck banged on neighbours’ doors for help in Excelsior Springs, Mo. More than a week later, prosecutors, investigators and community members still have unanswered questions. Timothy Haslett Jr. has been charged with rape, kidnapping and second-degree assault after a woman told police she escaped being held hostage in his basement since September.
