Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson testified on Tuesday before the Emergencies Act Inquiry, saying that he lamented the city losing control of Wellington St. early on in the protest. “Going on to Queen, Albert or Slater — not much of a backdrop on those streets,” Watson said. “I think their intention was to go in with these vulgar flags, Swastika’s and Confederate flags swirling all over the place with the backdrop of Parliament Hill like they’ve taken over the country.”
