Addressing claims that the Liberal government is planning to “triple” carbon pricing in British Columbia, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre said during Monday’s session of question period in the House of Commons that “people cannot afford these taxes.” Responding to the Leader of the Opposition, Canadian Environment Minister Steven Guilbealt said the government still has a duty to fight climate change even amid inflation, but that they also introduced the Climate Action Incentive Payments to help give some money back to Canadians.
