Northern Sask. First Nation reinstates state of emergency after assault

Buffalo River Dene Nation Chief Norma Catarat announced on Wednesday that the First Nation is reinstating a state of emergency following an assault on an elder. Catarat said the individual who had committed the assault was unknown to the victim and had recently been released from the Pine Grove Correction Centre. Catarat called for support to make the community safe noting that there are no detox centres or mental health supports in the community.
