Speaking in the House of Commons during Question Period on Tuesday, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre slammed the Liberals for “tripling, tripling, tripling” taxes for gas, heating and groceries under what he called the carbon pricing scheme. Responding to Poilievre, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland defended the Liberals’ carbon pricing mechanism and countered that the “Liberal solution” to the current economy is the GST tax credit of nearly $500 for 11 million households.
