Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said Monday that Canada had imposed new sanctions on Iran and more would be announced soon, saying the goal is to apply “maximum pressure on the Iranian regime” following the death of Mahsa Amini. The 22-year-old Iranian woman died in the custody of Iran’s so-called morality police for reportedly wearing her hijab too closely.
