Asked about waiving employment insurance (EI) on Monday for Atlantic Canadians after being battered by hurricane Fiona, Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough responded that the Liberal government “understands” the seriousness and the challenges being faced by Atlantic Canadians when it comes to work right now. She added Canada has waived the requirement for record of employment, stating the government is “on top of this” problem.
