Hurricane Ian: Official warns people to stay inside in path of ‘potentially devastating’ winds

Acting director of the National Hurricane Center Jamie Rhome said Wednesday that people in parts of Florida that could see the most direct impact from hurricane Ian, such as Tampa and the “I-4 corridor”, referencing areas served by Interstate 4, should no longer travel outside for shelter due to “potentially devastating” winds that could hit. He said people should shelter indoors and plan to be there for some time as going outside could be life-threatening.
